I have enjoyed a highly successful career of over 40 years at senior executive level in the Irish healthcare service within the private and voluntary sectors. The opportunity to transform lives in a profound way is what drew me to commit to a career in healthcare, but it was the ability to impact change on a larger scale that made me stay.  I have more than four decades experience in this industry and have been fortunate to work in diverse settings within the general acute, specialist, mental health hospitals, learning disability, care of the older person and community-based services.  Each in turn have broadened my perspective and deepened my empathy.  

My key skills are in the areas of corporate governance, strategic review, development and restructuring through a process of change management, operational, human resource, financial and risk management, whilst ensuring compliance within increasing regulatory healthcare and fiscal environments.

Between 2013 – 2021 I played a key role in both a new start up in the acute private hospital space and restructuring of a new build mental health hospital facility from long term care to an acute inpatient, day hospital and home-based treatment model of care. 

As a healthcare executive I have also been responsible for developing and maintaining excellent relationships with key stakeholders, including insurers, national health service and community partners; spearheading initiatives to enhance healthcare technology including the development and successful implementation of a fully integrated mental health electronic patient record across both inpatient and community services.
